Before we talk about Hitfilm plugins first you should know what is Hitfilm? The compositing interface is
essentially a hybrid 3D version of After Effects but unlike After Effects,
you don't have to open a separate software. Compositing is a great descriptor
for this tab because that's clearly what HitFilm was designed
to be.
In computing, a plug-in (or plugin, add-in, addin,
add-on, addon, or extension) is a software component that adds a
specific feature to an existing computer program. When a program supports
plug-ins, it enables customization.
OR
A plugin is a software add-on that is
installed onto a program, enabling it to perform additional features. For
example, Internet browsers allow users to install plug-ins into
the Browser to give that browser features not found in the default
installation. Like Browser the Editing software has the capability to install
plugins on like hitfilm Adobe After Effects Etc.
HitFilm
Ignite
is a collection of HitFilm plugins,
bundled with every HitFilm Pro
license or available separately. It is a set of over 130 plugins for using in other video
software. The plugins mean that you can choose how, where and when you
work with HitFilm technology. Current compatible hosts include:
1.
Premiere
Pro CC
2.
After
Effects CC
3.
Vegas
Pro 14
4.
Final
Cut Pro X
5.
Motion

6.
DaVinci
Resolve 11
7.
Catalyst
Edit
8.
EDIUS
8
9.
NUKE10.
Avid
Media Composer 8
The plugins are a subset of HitFilm
Pro's effects and they function in very similar ways. Some host platforms have limitations compared to
using the effect directly inside HitFilm Pro for example, Premiere Pro cannot use effects which
include a layer picker and only After Effects includes a 3D camera similar to HitFilm's.Details on specific effects can be found in the Visual
effects section.
OpenFX
HitFilm Pro is compliant with OpenFX
version 1.3 and includes OpenGL rendering support.
Compatible OpenFX plugins from other
developers can be used inside HitFilm Pro. When you install compatible OpenFX plugins they will be
listed in the Effects library alongside HitFilm's included effects.
Note that some developers of OpenFX
plugins restrict them to specific host platforms. If you are not seeing OpenFX plugins appearing inside
HitFilm we recommend contacting the manufacturer of the plugin.
